reported for CricInfo by Ahmad Saidullah

Toronto, Ontario (September 17, 1998) Ajay Jadeja who led the Indian squad to the Comonwealth games will arrive in Toronto on Friday morning, match organizers IMG comfirmed today.

Earlier in the day, the Indian team management issued a press release stating that "due to an injury that occurred during the third match of the 1998 Sahara Cup, Indian player, Jatin Paranjpe, will be unable to continue playing, according to the event doctor, Dr. David Greenberg."

The release further stated that "with the agreement of the Pakistan Cricket Board, the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is entitled under the rules of the event to nominate a replacement."

According to several conflicting and unconfirmed reports in Indian media, Sachin Tendulkar and Jadeja were both expected to fly to Toronto tomorrow. However, an IMG spokesperson in Toronto said that the boards had agreed that only one replacement would be flown in as per ICC/World Cup rules.

IMG confirmed reports that Sachin Tendulkar had left Bombay for a hill station outside Bombay. He could not be reached, despite many efforts by his family and the BCCI.

BCCI decided to send Jadeja by a flight today. He is expected to join his join his teammates tomorrow morning in time for the fourth Sahara Cup match on Saturday.

The series concludes on Sunday.
