``Surrey are now keeping their words,'' said Majid.

On Monday evening, chief selector Wasim Bari said he had received a letter from the PCB which stated that Surrey want the off-spinner to play for them in the Sept 17-20 county match.

``That's ridiculous. We picked Saqlain after they (Surrey) decided to release the player on Sept 13. The team (for the Sahara Cup) has been announced and we have no time to pick a replacement,'' he told reporters.

Bari emphasised that the contracts signed between the players and the counties clearly say that the player can be released if required on national duty.

Bari said it made no sense that Saqlain is released on Sept 13 and asked to join Surrey again on Sept 17. ``It's practically impossible,'' he remarked.

Bari said he has asked the cricket board to inform the Surrey Cricket County chairman Mickey Stewart about the importance of the Pakistan-India series. ``He (Mickey Stewart) admits that he decided to release Saqlain by Sept 13 but has asked if it was possible for Pakistan to allow him to be available for the Sept 17-20 game. I don't think Pakistan can afford to lose Saqlain at this stage.''

Surrey require Saqlain Mushtaq after they slumped to second position in the county championship when they lost their 15th league match to Yorkshire. Surrey have two matches remaining.
