  3rd One-Day International (31 March 2001)

Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Indore was the venue for the third One-Day International match between India and Australia. With the series leveled at 1-1, this match had generated much interest. As always Saurav Ganguly was late for the toss, Steve Waugh and match referee Cammie Smith were not amused by this. The toss created some confusion too, using the new two rupee coin, which is a bit confusing when it comes to Head and Tails, both the captains claimed the Toss. Cammie Smith quickly got in and cleared all doubts and Steve Waugh had won the toss for Australia. On a pitch with some dampness in it, Waugh asked Indians to have a bat first. He was banking on his fast bowlers, Glenn McGrath and Damien Fleming to deliver the goods.
