Final Frontier - I

February 24, 2001: The Australians have come to India to break a 31-year-old jinx, of not having won a Test series in India. Aussie captain Steve Waugh riding on a 15 Test match in a row winning streak, calls this series for the Border - Gavaskar Trophy as the 'Final Frontier'. The Aussies who are marching into history as one of the very best, are presented with three stops in the 'Final Frontier', Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. Saurav Ganguly and the Indians are determined to stop the Aussies in their tracks.

Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, was the venue for the first of the three Test match series in the 'Final Frontier', that got going on the 27th February, 2001. This is the home of Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar and history is embedded at Wankhede adding more colour to this picteresque setting for a great duel.
