With Ambrose and Walsh reaching the end of their careers, the West Indies are searching for good young fast bowlers. They need look no further than Mervyn Dillon. The tall lad from Trinidad and Tobago has stepped into the world scene and quickly established himself as one of West Indies' frontline fast bowlers. Dillon bowls off a classical long fast bowler's run, with a high arm action. While he is not express pace, Dillon has mastered the art of bowling effectively well within himself. Dillon moves the new ball effectively through the air, but is at his deadly best cutting the old ball sharply off the pitch. Dillon has developed a highly accurate yorker, which he uses to best result against the lower order. While he bowls with tight control in the limited over games, Dillon is not afraid to let a few short balls rip in the longer version of the game. When you're a promising young fast bowler it always helps to let the batsmen know who's in charge! Mervyn Dillon has emerged as a force to reckon with in world cricket just when the West Indies need it the most.
