Courtney Walsh and Curtley Ambrose have reached the twilight of their careers. The West Indies were searching hard for quality young fast bowlers. They found Merv Dillon and now Reon King.

King is a well built strong young man who looks like he is likely to send rockets down 22 yards. He does much more than that. King has a powerful yet steady run into the crease. Experts have described his run up as the best run up since Michael Holding. King delivers from a classical high arm action. His stock delivery is quick in itself, but when he bends his back a bit, the ball flies off the wicket. King can move the new ball either way. In the recent past he has developed the skill of cutting the old ball off the wicket to perfection. Add to this the fact that he bowls the ball up to the batsmen and you have a matchwinner.

King is very solid on all the basics of fast bowling. He is fit, young and very very strong. Coupled with a good head on his shoulders King has everything it takes to be a great fast bowler. In time, it will be impossible to leave King out of any West Indian side...
