This award is to recognise the outstanding player across the County Championship, Sunday League, Benson and Hedges Cup and NatWest Trophy competitions in the 1997 season just ended. Performances in Tests and one-day internationals are not to be considered in this poll. Overseas imported players are eligible to compete for this award. The poll was conducted between 26 September and 9 October 1997. Thanks to all who participated and shared in the spirit of the poll.
